Ellington:
The idea behind Corporal Ellington Darvey originated from ready Terry Pratchet's Discworld series of books, and imagining what a fantasy beat cop might look like. His equipment is simple, state-provided fair, and is generally derived from the equipment modern police forces carry. A shot-gun becomes a cross-bow, hand-cuffs become old fashioned manacles, and so on. In order to impart a sense of whimsy in the character, his proportions are exaggerated to make him look almost like a pin-headed basket-ball player that has seen better days. The key-fob on his huge iron keys is a fuzzy pink curio with eyes, much like a key-fob that might be found on a modern-day, teenage girl's keychain. Ellington was modeled first in Maya, and then a high-resolution sculpture was then created in Z-brush. A normal map was generated from the high-poly sculpt, and the diffuse and specular maps were then painted in Adobe Photoshop.
